Challenge:

Smartboxes Ltd. sought a color solution for their children’s airline meal boxes which was dazzling, bright and clean, but also non-toxic and durable. The boxes needed to meet tough airline guidelines and reduce the risk of hot or cold food falling from the table or tray while in flight.

Solution:

Using their clarifying agent, Millad® 3988 and specialty line of ClearTint® colorants, Milliken created a series of polypropylene Smartbox designs that incorporated a clear, bright array of colors. And because Milliken colorants are non-toxic, contain no heavy metals and are approved for use in food-contact applications, they are safe for kids.

Result:

The Smartbox designs have far exceeded customer expectations for quality, creativity, consistency and reliable material supplies. The boxes meet the airline industry standards, clip firmly shut and have strong handles. They now serve as branded souvenirs sought by travelers young and old.
