Challenge:

New Advanced Products, Inc. wanted to create a plastic cutting board that was lightweight, flexible, colorful and dishwasher safe. The board also had to hold its flat shape without curling up at the edges, yet be flexible enough to roll up so that chopped ingredients could easily be transferred from the work surface to the bowl.

Solution:

Using Millad® 3988 and ClearTint® colorants, Milliken worked with New Advanced Products to create a customized polypropylene resin formulation to deliver the durability and scratch resistance that cooks want.

Result:

The transparent cutting boards meet all requirements and also help protect treasured recipes from splatters during food preparation. Additionally, their four diverse tinted shades help to keep the four food groups separate during meal preparation. The product was an immediate hit for the company who also saw a large increase in sales.
