Challenge: Hanmi Soymilk Co. Ltd. searched for a cost-effective alternative for their packaging for more than two years. In the past they had tried to use cPP but there was always an issue with odor that was caused by the clarifying process. As they began working towards the launch of their new children’s drink, Tumoya, in conjunction with the animated television show, “Tumoya Island,” they approached Milliken to see if their research in ISBM for cPP would be of help. Solution:
Armed with their recent developments in ISBM technology for cPP, Milliken worked with LG-Caltex Oil Corporation and Bio-One to create a clear bottle which was 10–20 percent less expensive than the traditional PET product which had been used in the past. Additionally, since Milliken used their third generation clarifier, Millad® 3988, taste and odor were no longer issues in production.
Result:
Tumoya was launched as Asia’s first cPP bottled product for children’s beverages.
