Leading the way in sustainability
Sustainability: it's a real trend in packaging and a growing trend in the US packaging market. Essentially, it refers to the impact a product has – on society, on finances, and on the environment. Did you know that polypropylene is fully recyclable? Or that it's easier to recycle than almost any other plastic? It even flows more easily as it degrades, without cross linking, gel forming or off-gassing.*

Starbucks and McDonald's have switched their cold cups from PET to PP for the benefits of less plastic and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Quick Facts on Recycling PP:

  • PP is being recycled in many applications, including battery cases, paint cans, home storage, flower pots, pallets, crates, composite lumber, and more.
  • 29 of USA largest cities collect polypropylene.
  • More than 1/3 of communities collect plastic beyond bottles.
  • In the US, PP recycling rates are increasing – even in the absence of a "formal stream."
    Recycling Rates by Year:
    • 2004 – 3%
    • 2007 – 9%
    • 2008 – 11%
